That nice Mark Williams Thomas seems to be quietly descending into the bowels of Hell; I hear he was so shattered by the two pages about him in HHJ Taylor's ruling when she threw out the prosecution case against me that he booked into hospital; now he finds himself about to appear in front of a Judge regarding Malaysia and has become aware of other aspects of his past life that ITV is not pleased about and even his fan club at The Mirror are distancing themselves from him. I was wondering whether his disappearance from Twitter might have had some kind of legal reason or have been at someone legal's instigation. As much as I think he's been a fly in the ointment in certain cases, I hope his mental health remains stable, as I wouldn't wish a crisis on anyone.

If he deleted it does it mean none of his tweets survive on the Web and if you just delete posts and keep your account running they can be found.

What if you tried to manufacture evidence that someone was murdered and your false testimony got found out? You'd be in deep shit if the people you implied were responsible for an accidental death decided to sue you. What if, years ago, you'd offered to buy off witnesses to imaginary crimes for £5000 each (payable through you, of course) and you got found out? You'd be in deep shit. And very nervous when getting phone calls from independent investigators. If all that happened to you, you'd probably try to wipe away all traces of your past life, wouldn't you?

I can't understand how he got away with tweeting Rolf Harris's name alongside a Savile-with-hashtag and a sexual-with-hashtag at an early stage in the Harris investigation. Whatever the truth about Savile was (and I'm not convinced that he was as evil as he was painted, or even evil at all) the masses were perceiving him as a paedophile, and that tweet linked Rolf Harris to Savile and consequently with being a paedophile, in my view.

As someone commented in response to the tweet: "A journalist has now been sacked for naming this man and yet you did... and nothing happens?"

I'm still hoping that he will have to account for this, but I guess it could be a long wait.

Put it this way. If MWT went to prison he’d not for his own safety be put in to general population as he’d get Mauled! But he’d also be targeted in the vulnerable prisoners wing as he’s more than likely put a few people away on Pedo Guilty verdicts which he was involved in. So he’s toast 😳

Noticed a comment from someone on Twitter speculating that the deletion of the account may be because MWT is away and he may have just shut down his account temporarily to have control over it and prevent comments being posted that he might want to delete. Sounds very possible to me, especially as it's now Easter holiday time.

There's a big difference, Jo, between deleting an account and putting it on hold; you lose all the supporters you've built up over the years and hope will buy your book, watch your TV shows, listen to you on radio and so on. It is akin to media suicide in this new social media world and MWT knows this very well.

I do hope that if it comes to him being jailed, he will be safe and protected.
It is beyond me how intimidation and violence in prison is so often regarded as part of the experience or "just desserts".
