Britmovie wrote that Jigsaw is "a chilling murder mystery," adding, "at 107 minutes, the film is long but never tiresome"; while The Guardian described the film as "one of the finest postwar British crime movies and possibly the best depiction of the seaside town on film. The Duke of Edinburgh dismissed the film as "bloody boring".

Starring Dixon of Dock Green, is that a person, I assume you mean Jack Warner. 107 minutes is quite short for a film these days, 2 hours+ is the norm now. What channel was this film on? "Talking Movies"?
