Brynteg Comprehensive art teacher 'abused teen pupils'
Two men have revealed how they were sexually abused by their art teacher while they were pupils at a secondary school in the 1980s.
Clive Hally, 67, was arrested earlier this year on suspicion of indecent assault, following allegations of historical child sexual abuse at Brynteg Comprehensive School, Bridgend.
The retired teacher was on police bail, when he was found dead on 18 May.
He is thought to have killed himself before a charging decision was taken.
All this cloak-and-dagger stuff around the accusers (voiced by actors in the video, faces concealed, false names) seems suspicious to me. " I think he would undress me. I don't remember me wanting to get undressed. I think he did it to me." just doesn't ring true to me. How many teenage boys would just let that happen? The "I think" part makes me wonder if he's just making it up, as one would surely remember something like that. And alleged abuse of the other one supposedly being interrupted by a supply teacher seems very convenient, i.e. presumably a teacher who'd be harder to name or track down as they weren't part of the regular staff.

I agree, honey. There seems to be a string of cases of teachers committing suicide when facing sex abuse allegations, both in the UK ( Google search 1, Google search 2) and in the US.
In an appearance on This Morning ("Is The Paedophile Hunter Right?", on YouTube), MWT mentioned two suicides, one of them a teacher: "I've had two people during the time when I was a police officer, one jumped off a bridge and one immediately after bail, a school teacher, drove down to Beachy Head and jumped off Beachy Head, big national inquiry resulted from it, but actually as a direct result of his arrest led to a national schools inquiry, we went and searched a load of public schools and prosecuted a load of offenders.".
Moor Larkin identified the teacher as Adrian Stark, but discovered that there was also another teacher from Surrey who committed suicide while MWT was at Surrey police:
" So, here was another suspected paedophile under investigation by the police in Surrey at exactly the same time as Adrian Stark. Like Stark did, Drewett kills himself. But there’s no sign that Mark Williams-Thomas has ever mentioned Nick Drewett, despite the fact that this case must have occurred in Surrey right in between Adrian Stark and Jonathan King. Two cases that Mark Williams-Thomas claims as major achievements in his police career and they neatly sandwich the case of Nick Drewett.
Why did he resign? Was it because the case of Nick Drewett seems to raise the spectre that maybe it’s innocent folks who kill themselves? The eventual unravelling of all this reached Parliament itself. Have a read of Hansard.
"Mr. Crispin Blunt (Reigate): I beg to move, That leave be given to bring in a Bill to provide for the anonymity of teachers, etc. accused of sexual offences against children in relation to whom they are in a position of trust; and for connected purposes.
Last year, 700 people attended the funeral of Nick Drewett, a 31-year-old teacher in my constituency. He was a popular, committed teacher who took his own life when facing charges of behaving improperly with pupils in his care. The master who was charged with him was subsequently acquitted.
A significant factor in Nick Drewett's decision to commit suicide was the sensational publicity that attended the investigation of the charges.
Sadly, he is not alone. The National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers has had recent experience of three members who have taken their own lives in similar circumstances. Since 1991, there have been 974 police investigations into abuse allegations made against NAS/UWT members. In 792 of them, no grounds were discovered for prosecution. Publicity in 80 per cent. of those cases did serious injustice to innocent teachers. The Bill attempts to protect teachers from injustice that can do them permanent professional and personal damage.
etc.""
