A new play seems to concentrate on the rare aspect of online grooming instead of the true tragedy of Breck Bednar - that everybody did the right thing - his mother, his friends, his family - but were let down by Surrey Police who completely failed to protect the boy by checking on the vile groomer. YES we should all be wary of murderers and scams and groomers. And the awful tragedy of Breck shows that most people know exactly how to react and how to protect ourselves and others. But it also shows how Surrey Police are not fit for purpose. And let Breck be murdered just as they let Amelie Delagrange and Marsha McDonnell be killed. And the Deepcut kids. And Laurence Pollinger and Robert Randall and Deniz Corday.
