Now I recall a statement that perfectly fits Boris Johnson.

I met this man a few times as he is good friends with friends of mine. Despite a very working class background he became PM of Australia. He now lives in Potts Point near Kings Cross in Sydney. I see him often in antique shops browsing..we're sort of nodding acquaintances.

Apparently his house is sensational, a ginormous 1800s terrace with glorious harbour views in a beautiful cosmopolitan part of inner Sydney..an area that in the 1950s was apparently fascinating as it filled with the disposed of Europe and a large Jewish community right next door to 'The Cross' as they call it..a haven then for strip joints and bordellos (ruined by the US Vietnam War as it became a major R&R (rest and relaxation) spot fro troops who brought hard drugs with them.)

But he said once about politics : "every now and then you have to throw the switch to vaudeville". It's Boris to a tee.

Paul Keating who made politics exciting with his bitchy insults..I think Boris will be the same albeit with an Eton accent.
