TOPIC: Americans and Royalty
#192624

Americans and Royalty 4 Years, 7 Months ago
A US socialite married a King of England. More recently, an American actress married into the the royal family - both were divorcees.

In between, another US actress married a Prince in Monaco. One thing they all shared was a strong reluctance to cut US bonds.

Each insisted on maintaining lavish residences and livesyles on both continents - and using their newly acquired statuses to the maximum.

Yes, in 1982, Princess Grace (Kelly) died of injuries sustained in a car accident in Monaco.

I wouldn't call the Monaco residence particularly lavish.

If you mean the Prince's Palace of Monaco - perhaps not.

But a large proportion of this property is open to the public, and is really an administrative headquarters.

The Grimaldi family has much more opulent properties and residences.

Mainly in Monte Carlo, the French Riviera and Italy.

Then there's Bains de Mer - worth a Google.

Monaco's royal family (Grimaldi), run by a 'Kelly' - were smart enough to joint venture with Qatar.

Quatar owns airlines and football clubs, and oil production; together, a financial monstrosity (dynasty!) has been created.

With new money - and Mediteranian history...
