Normally this would appear in Music Week or Billboard but since we still get 10,000 visits here, I thought it would make sense to release it to you!

As I’ve grown older I’ve seen the music industry change radically. Streaming appears dominant but so does use of past hits in films, commercials and TV and radio. Everyone’s Gone To The Moon, the song I wrote and sang in 1965, has earned huge amounts of money due to news coverage of the Apollo11 anniversary - it was the first pop track to reach the moon as astronaut Michael Collins’ choice. It is also featured in the soundtrack for the new Netflix movie, In The Shadow Of The Moon. A few years ago my arrangement of Hooked On A feeling was in the Guardians of the Galaxy film. As was I’m Not In Love by 10cc.

The best and most active company boosting income from past hits seems to be Hipgnosis. I’ve known both Merck Mercuriadis and Nile Rodgers for years.

So we have passed our 10cc catalogue over to them to manage, administer and promote.

I anticipate an enormous increase in interest for these wonderful songs. I have always felt that Sheet Music is the second best album of the era, after Sgt Pepper by The Beatles, and John Lennon told me he agreed, back in the 1970s.

Likewise my publishing company Jonjo Music Ltd has been placed with CTM in Holland. They express great interest in the hundreds of copyrights.
People tend to forget that in songs on which I sang, over 40 million records were sold in the last century. They continue to do so today.
And my productions, including Genesis (recently passed to Cherry Red), sold far more.

I anticipate with excitement the advance of the next stage of our glorious music industry and thank Merck and Andre for their enthusiasm.

really good post.
I just love that you can still profit from past endeavors as you should ..and that may have upset the gutter media who fulminate that talented people (with all their flaws) can still profit off past endeavors.

If they had their way..your music would end up on a bonfire with Michelangelo and Leonardo de Vinci's paintings (both Vile Perverts)..Alexander & Frederick..both Greats in their day and so on.

# However I draw the line at Ernst Rohm who was a Vile Pervert of the wrong kind..but he never wrote any good songs so fuck him.
## I have a German friend in his 90s who was in the Hitler Youth League,,he reckons it was great fun and a lot of not so normal activity went on.
### My Lithuanian grandfather was a teacher in the Young Pioneers in Russia..he said the kids had fabulous fun they went to beaches all the time and had great medical attention.
#### None of this is relevant to King's post but I just know one day I Want To Slap Your Face will be playing in a lift or supermarket I enter.

##### As always Hedda the Great is ahead of time as the Daily Mail finally publishes a story about the wonderful Marlon Brando screwing anything with a heartbeat.. I've been telling people this for years (don't ask me how I know) but they got one thing wrong...Marlon did get expelled from his Military Academy..not just for being GAY but organising a student orgy.
He also f*cked Marlene Dietrich and was very appreciative as she scrubbed his kitchen floor after..Good German Haus Frau..and allowed John Gielgud to give him a blowjob.

Thanks Hedda; yes the "conventional wisdom" of "Keep your head down and shut up" never made sense to me, especially when you happened to be innocent of allegations. I think the problem is - if you fall for your own public image and start believing you're everything the media says you are, you'll suffer eventually. I giggled when I was painted as a teen idol and heart throb so didn't get upset when that changed to being a vile pervert.

Well said Hedda and JK.
Perceptions need to change. Somebody who is in the public eye is deemed (quite rightly) as a person who should lead by example. This is a belief the media – responsible for making and breaking celebs tend to peddle and push.
They can't have it all ways.
The average public persona is held with the same contempt and accountability when they do wrong. All cannon fodder for the powers that be.

Except, when officials do wrong of course. Now, in my opinion, there is somebody who should be confined to a scrap heap.
We are nearly 20 years post hacking inquiry and tensions remain high.

I would just like to say JK how for someone who was thrown in jail and persecuted, you have gone through it and come out the other side without hate or malice. That, in itself, shows the manner of all good men, I believe. You deserve success and a good life.

Karma really is King.

I would prefer it if people in the public eye would stop leading by example.

People who should lead by example are officials.
Celebs are just ordinary people under the spotlight.

When people like Boris and Trump can end up where they are, I know things are seriously messed up.

I have totally lost trust in any officials. Contempt is my only position now.

indeed..I've seen that vision of JK exiting jail and the media demanding to know what amount of shame he felt and of course, answer came there none apart form a Big Smile.

To me it is the only way to..well enter the room or in his case, leave the cell. After all, why not? They'll attack you anyone and JK's case it has been proved to be spot on.

(# not me personally..I'd slink out..I know..cowardly..only because I've put on a bit of weight though)

## I've only been to a jail once..to visit a lovely lady in Holloway on remand. I took her a Harrods Hamper. She told me how she met that ghastly Myra Hindley and that she was falling in love with a female screw.
### She spent 9 months on Remand and when facing court..police dropped the case. She was furious. Now flies a charter plane in Texas. Funny Old World.

Media are a disgrace trying to hold anyone to account whilst they hide huge scandals.

It is for that very reason I come to the defence of many.

I hold the kryptonite.

As Hindley and your friend were together in Holloway over 50 years ago - I would now have serious concerns about the safety of Texan aviation, with OAP pilots...
