TOPIC: Election today
#194233
Election today 4 Years, 4 Months ago
I predicted months ago a Labour landslide and still think that will happen. The Corbyn haters portray him as something he clearly is not and I think voters, seeing him every day, again & again, simply don 't believe the negative media & will feel the time has come to give Socialism a chance, as extreme capitalism hasn't worked. My personal preference would be a hung Parliament with Corbyn leading it and SNP + LibDems supporting us getting out of Brexit and then stopping too extreme policies. Obviously, financially it makes sense for me to have a Tory government but I simply cannot stomach it. I did once vote for Boris as Mayor in London.

Use your vote.
If you do not like any of the above SPOIL your voting slip it will still get a count and does not give votes away to any side.

I may spoil myself today

To spoil your vote is futile, meaningless and a complete waste of time...

Just about to head out to cast my vote. Where I live the view is that tactical voting against the Tories is a waste of time. But if you are right JK about a Labour surprise and a non Tory moderate, humane balanced outcome I will have done my bit!

I'd vote Labour today but my seat is solidly Labour anyway so no point. I do hope decent, patient, honourable Socialist Corbyn becomes Prime Minister, getting us out of Brexit but hopefully backed by SNP and LibDems, controlling excesses.

That would also be my preferred outcome JK. Unfotunately my area would need a 30% swing for labour to take it from Tories. They were second placed in 2017. Had to try and do my bit...I think tonight will be intetesting...

The same in Surrey.

All 11 seats will be Conservative ones, yet again.

Northern Ireland have 18 seats.

Split in the last parliament: - 10/DUP; 7/Sinn Fein;1/Independent.

DUP is likely to take the Independent's seat - the incumbent is retiring.

Giving them, again perhaps, a big say in any coalition.

My head is up my ass on politics at the moment.
I am going to stay home and sulk instead, but knowing know who needs to win.

The current mood in conversation today is split. I just found myself in a conversation with a young gent and an older one. The young one is Labour and the elder one just voted Tory.
He voted Tory out of fear of what the Labour have done in the past with regards to petrol cost rises.
He also fears huge tariffs on fuel if we Brexit.

@JK,
I can understand you voting for BOJO as he was very appealing politically and charasmatically years ago as his stints on satire programs showed.
I have now seen the light.

This GE will change nothing as we are in a political deadlock over Brexit.
A Brexit that should not happen.

Interesting times indeed.

@Wyot I can blame you when it goes wrong!

@'M' You have the best idea. Go shopping!

I suspect Johnson will win a majority, though hope I'm wrong. People claiming to be concerned about the NHS, then voting Tory anyway. Johnson's bad enough but I don't think Corbyn and Swinson are up to much either. Sturgeon at least seems capable, but can't do much. Corbyn doesn't strike me as patient, as he often seems to get tetchy in interviews. I also don't think it was particularly decent of him to have been prepared to sacrifice his son's education for his own socialist credentials and political image (The Guardian: MP and wife split over school). If he's prepared to do that to his own flesh and blood, he's not going to balk at imposing ideological decisions on strangers for the sake of principle rather than what's in their interests. But a coalition between Labour and the Lib Dems to rein Corbyn in might work; certainly preferable to more Tory government.

Corbyn is a danger to our country. Come on Boris, win and win well and send the anti British terrorist lover into oblivion and lets get Brexit done and dusted.
