Led by Scandinavian countries, cashless transactions are growing fast throughout the world - not only on the internet.
For example, many EU countries no longer accept cash on their public transport systems. Credit and debit cards are needed.
In Sweden - where less than 15% of retail transactions are in cash - the excellent Swish system is very efficient, virtually eradicating fraud.
Travelling anywhere without a card is now unwise, but more secure.
And in a short period, they'll be mandatory - with the card even operational, currently, via your phone or watch.
Contactless, cashless, tap-on/tap-off - with no PIN required for transactions up to c£30 - is the future.
