Just caught that story on the news this evening, ITK.

I don't expect as a pale looking ethnic Englishman I'll be too badly affected by these measures. Apart from the obvious human rights issues, just how is further alienating people who already feel disenfranchised going to help?

But then, as you say, I don't suppose Saddam and Mugabe were ever concerned by that either!

You maybe right - that the laws will initially be used to further alienate the Muslim community - but once they have these powers they will find ways to use them on everyone !

After the Muslims, then the blacks? (remember the "suss" laws?).

Never trust the people who caused the problem to find a solution to the problem (especially when it involves giving them extra powers and depriving us further of our rights)!
