Virgin Voyages 4 Years, 2 Months ago
Cruise line just launched by Branson in Dover.

Perhaps the worst timing possible for such a venture.

The major players - Carnival and Royal Caribbean - are seriously looking at wind down options.

At least temporarily.

Novaris and Coranavirus have become synominous with that up close transport mode.

Branson would probably have already got his sack of cash for this venture. Probably laughing his way to the tax free bank.

Maybe.

But he offered to buy Concord(e).

The development of which was paid by the taxpayer.

Fantastic and conceptual commodity.

Branson didn't want to change it

Just to upgrade it.

BA/government were suspicious, afraid, and worried.

That the Virgin Concorde would live - and be more successful.

It would have been....

BA should have called his bluff on that publicity stunt - the planes would have ended up gently corroding on the apron. Virgin's lenders would not have paid for upgrading the 60s technology and certifying it for the decade lifespan it realistically had left in it!

Now being vehemently and globally denied by Branson.

VV's first ship - the impressive Scarlet Lady - will be exempt from all viruses!

As the vessel - which has a 4,000 capacity - will only cruise in the Caribbean...

Branson obviously hadn't heard of the MSC Meraviglia - which sails out of Miami.

This liner with over 6,000 souls on board has an infected crew member.

And has been refused entry to the Caymans and Jamaica - and is urgently seeking a destination.

I see the Virgin liveried Scarlet Lady spectacularly birthed at Liverpool Docks this morning.

Amazing looking brand new vessel, build in Italy - sleek and futuristic. Geared to a young market - with running tracks, tattoo parlours etc.

Soon to depart for New York and then Miami - from where its first cruise will commence in April. Three more vessels on the way.

New York stop cancelled.

The ship will sail straight to Miami.

Because of Coranavirus concerns...
