Can we have repeats of Love Thy Neighbour? Those who actually sat and watched the DVD will know, Eddie is the idiot and Bill always wins.

They actually had a comedy web site say that the Fawlty Towers episode also featured 'exaggerated' goose-stepping, as if that was some kind of insult to Nazis! They should ask a goose - it would point out that the Nazis were the ones who exaggerated THEIR stepping!

Yes Eddie did always turn out to be the fool at the end of each episode, but perhaps it reinforced the insults given to black kids in the playground.

Speaking as someone who has recently seen the film of "Love They Neighbour" on dvd, I can say that like most ITV sitcoms of the era, it is painfully unfunny and lame and would have little audience today, except for a short time for curiosity value. I watched it as a kid, and didn't have a problem with it, as it was reflecting the times and not guiding the times.

No sitcom has made laugh of loud they all predictable. Love Thy Neighbour the movie was painful to watch because the acting is off and there's no chemistry on screen. There's even the odd cringy rape joke.

If memory serves me right wasn't there a rape joke in Butterflies ?
