RIP Jack Charlton 3 Years, 9 Months ago
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53373542

Very sad to hear about the death of football great Jack Charlton aged 65. A great character and a lovely man. Always very modest and optimistic. A world cup winner and also a successful manager, most notably with the Republic of Ireland. There are now only 5 members of the England world cup winning squad still alive, with 3 dying in the last year of so. Jack came from an era when sport was full of great characters with lots of charisma, he will be fondly remembered.

Always came across as a really nice man - his relationship with Bobby was fascinating. It's sad as one gets older and watches all our heroes disappear; though tinged with gratitude we're still here and (hopefully) still going strong.

One of the nicest blokes I have met; the stories he told were fascinating even to the non sporting fans. Nobby Stiles was also a barrel of laughs.

These lads were from the era that football really was the working class sport.

Even Harry Redknapp can make time to greet fans and Razor Ruddock is actually a very shy and humble guy in public.

RIP Jack.

Unfortunately you can't edit posts on this site, he was of course 85, not 65.

My favourite story of Jack, was when he met the pope with his ireland squad in 1990 and he told him that he used to be a goalkeeper. Jack then told his goalie Pat Bonner after the next game after letting in an easy goal, that "Even the Pope could have saved that one".

Yeah, Razor was on last years celebrity masterchef(see other thread) and came across as a big gentle giant, however as seen on the itv show "Boys on tour" a few weeks ago, he has been caning it on the beers and really needs to reign it in, or will suffer the consequences.

No one is perfect.

I can't see how people think MasterChef is a good show. My partner watches it but it sends me asleep.

Greg Wallace is a "bore" off camera according to a friend of mine.

I made a big mistake the other day. It was Bermuda where prison ships were stationed, not the Bahamas.
