Dear Government
All through this item doubt is cast on the accuracy of your "predictions" of winter Covid deaths - 85k, 120k take your pick.
Next week everyone is being urged to commute and get back in the office, while at the same time they are considering restricting non-household contact from Nov to next March.
So I would be able go into work with 20 colleagues, or sit on a train into London with scores of strangers, but perhaps not visit my elderly father.
I'm sorry but if you continue to go down this route no one will know what they are doing. You will terrify everyone into remaining indoors further wrecking the economy, parents will keep their children out of school further wrecking educations.
Lives will be lost; more than from the virus, as is already being established.
Please learn the lessons. Stop trying to trap water; Covid is massively out there anyway. Forget any further lockdowns and state control of lives.
Do what you should have done in the first place: identify those to whom the risk of a mortal response to Covid is likely, and protect them as best you can this time.
Leave the other 99.9996% of us alone to make individual choices.
Yes people will die. You won't be able to protect them all because it is not possible to do so.
But you also don't protect people from death through road traffiƧ accidents, air pollution or cancer caused by junk food and tobacco.
So don't worry about being labelled inconsistent.
In conclusion, you are trying to control the natural world by ruining any world worth living in.
Please stop it.
Yours...
