TOPIC: RIP John Lennon 80 today.
#202125
RIP John Lennon 80 today. 3 Years, 6 Months ago
I really liked John but he had a streak of real bitterness & mean-ness in him (which never came out towards me though I witnessed it towards many others). Luckily that died away (thanks to Yoko); he grew less angry as he got older. You could tell from his mouth (see photo in orange glasses). We talked about it at length (including my own mouth, as you'd expect!). I miss him. We had a good friendship. I'll tell you my John & Yoko story one day (before he really met her).

You admitted you had a sexual relationship with him; I'm interested who was the top man.

I'm not a fan of Lennon work but Milk & Honey is a wonderful album.

Lennon being cruel and bitter is no secret. However when that Vietnam vet with PTSD came to his door. John did look very concerned, even when he said his song's are just words without any true meaning the soldier looked even more broken. At least John and Yoko fed him.

I honestly don't know how you can think Milk and Honey (which was just one of Yoko's clumsy attempts to sell a few more demos and outtakes) is 'wonderful' and yet not be a fan of his other work. If someone's impressed by Milk and Honey surely they'd think the likes of John Lennon/POB, Imagine etc were brilliant!

(By the way, if someone ever gets the chance to hear the original Cheap Trick sessions with John, they'll realise how much Yoko meddled to get the finished version of Double Fantasy - the originals are on a different level entirely. Did she fear their power would undermine her own contributions? I don't know, but it was crazy that they were toned down so much in the final mix.)

It doesn't always follow that if you like one song you will like a similar one by the same artist, because liking something depends to an extent on how you are feeling at the time you hear it.
You can listen and know that something is "good" but if it doesn't grab you by the heart it just doesn't.

Ever heard the phases 'Personal preference or personal favourite' ? I actually like Yoko's voice on the album the music actually fits her style.

Yes, Cheap Trick are another favourite band of mine; seen them live numerous times.
