What did you expect, Species? Viruses ALWAYS adapt and change. There will ALWAYS be sudden extra deaths. Over reaction is killing far more.

Just caught the latest press briefing to learn there is a second new new strain, and it is (helpfully) from abroad! (S. Africa).

Why (heavy sarcasm) do we keep learning about these new variants on the days they announce millions to return to lockdowns (sorry, Tier 4..)

Viruses mutating is NOT news.

And if what they are saying is true why is the entire country not in Tier 4 today on their rubbish logic that lockdowns achieve anything much?

Well, a lot more of it has just been put into Tier 4 - but do you actually think the entire country should be, even those areas with low infection rates?

As Wyot says, it makes no sense because IF the new variant or new new variant is deadlier, then surely they need to lock down everywhere?

It is a flaming island for goodness sake. There is no need for all the palaver.
Just shut the stable door beforehand, IF it is needed. (Otherwise please F off!)

I feel as if I am in an abusive gaslighting relationship with my government.

If it spreads as quickly as they say and poses a high and imminent risk to the mortality of the good people of this island of course Alison!

As you are new to this site let me explain my position on this virus. First, health before wealth. Always. Lots of people have died you know, which is bad. And I'm sure lockdowns save loads of lives, which is good. Just stands to reason doesn't it...?

So yes, lock us all down completely until we are 100% sure there is no risk to anyone I say. There are so many unknowns with this virus, WHO says so, and unknown unknowns, and it infects as fast as JK produced hits back in the day.

So, yes, I am all for total lockdowns....

Why - when you said on the America/Covid19 thread three weeks ago - that there's no evidence whatsoever that lockdowns reduce deaths?

I assume, like me, he reckons immediate lockdowns can slow the spread but after it's infected thousands it's too late.

You want us to dress up in DEVO attire and study chess to pass the time when we have lockdown 3.0 ?

Even I think SA is a very beautiful and colourful country - please note that HIV/AIDS is very much still a thing there and I'm sure Covid is the last thing you need if you already have the HIV virus.

It's the only country where I don't pick up women nor dress smartly.

My last post was a test (apologies for doing so...) to satisfy me on something and your response has done so.

I have felt that you were misquoting and "baiting" me in different names. I didn't understand how an obviously intelligent person could repeatedly, doggedly appear to wilfully miss the point.

I now don't think that you have been at all. I think that you are actually not very able to understand stuff that is not literal; if I write something "tounge in cheek" or facetious.

Sorry I have been a bit tough on you at times. It was out of a genuine sense of exasperation. I feel like I understand you better now; and I know how to take some of your posts.

Hope you have a peaceful Xmas and thanks for the "sparring" this year.
