Grease 3 Years, 3 Months ago

In contrast to the embarassing cats, there is Grease on iplayer. Ok I've seen it about 10 times, but it still is a joy to watch. Several big hit singles You're the one that I want, summer nights, hopelessly devoted, greased ligtning etc, I can't think of another musical with so many hit songs apart from these jukebox musicals like "We will rock you". Some of the acting is ham, but the impact that this film had when it was released in 1978 was phenomenal, with two of the biggest selling records of all time in Summer nights and You're the one that i want. The ending has to be the biggest feel good ending of any film ever with 3 great songs in succession (You're the one that I want, we go together, and grease is the word).

I saw it once and that was more than enough, go watch Battlefield Earth - John does nothing but laugh talk rubbish yet pretty much like the rest of his movies.

Enjoy it while you can, Robbie. The desperately offended brigade are already onto it.
What issue do they have with "Grease" Honey? Admittedly, I have only ever accidentally seen snippets. But I don't recall any trans-bashing? Or is it categories that are omitted?
They object to Sandy changing her persona to attract Travolta (who wouldn't? He was gorgeous ) which I agree is not good, but those who actually watch the film will see that at the end Danny changes too, to be what he thinks Sandy wants, its just that he chucks off his "Jock" cardigan before the song.
They also take the line "Did she put up a fight" from the Summer Nights lyrics literally.
They seem to take everything literally. Morons.
The latest thing is calling Bob Geldof and Midge Ure racists and missing the whole point of their Christmas song.
I cant wait for them to start on Shakespeare. I suppose they don't know where to begin?

I see thanks both. Don't most people change their persona somewhat when trying to attract a mate? Peacocks don't have their feathers up all the time.
I wouldn't of stood a chance with the divine Sandy, as while I was as gorgeous as Travolta, my pretence at dancing would not have fooled her for a moment
I think this whole cancel thing may start to self implode this year because it is so logically absurd, it will end up eating itself...
