It is SO much more expensive being in lockdown I cant imagine even twenty pounds is much of a help.

Why is it more expensive being in Lockdown Honey? Don't understand.

I'm saving a fortune on daily rail returns to London and bar and restaurant bills. I don't understand why this £20 is needed now, but not outside of lockdown?

If a family can survive on UC why has it been increased just because people are at home all the time? Isn't this country in enough needless panicdemic debt?

Other people can't budget well or use money other than food or bills. I find it staggering amount of junk food in people's trolleys. Yes I like chips (Which Irish person doesn't) only once a week. My partner and I can both exceptionally and on a budget. Doing a curry is easy and cheap as well with the extras on the side (why bother with a takeaway at a cost, they use the same ingredients )

I don't get why people buy frozen chips when it's better to do homemade in a deep fryer ?

Instead of doing spaghetti bolognaise do 2 pasta bakes - they can be stored in the freezer.

Frozen chips are often cheaper than the potatoes.
It is simple for people like us, Greenman, because we already know how to budget well and can cook anything, but most people dont.

I can’t fathom why some parents haven’t mastered basic or elegant cooking. I always found that buying a huge sack of spuds kept in the dark last longer. Peeling and chopping them in to chips is not hardship.

I learnt to cook from work, living alone, copying the chefs we hired, following my mother and my sisters when I was a kid and of course old fashioned practise.

I really wish I had learnt to cook properly especially as my Mum was a superb cook.

But I do love this : "I learnt to cook from work, living alone, copying the chefs we hired". Chefs we hired?

'Ow the other 'arf live

I think he means the chefs in the pubs he worked in, Hedda, not his own personal chef.

Ditto Honey.

Hedda has always been a been thick.

2 hours of fun? More like 2 minutes.

You are doing it wrong then - amazing what whisky and wine can do for the sex drive.

no never had one.

But I did marry a nice Irish lady for a time whose family always employed unmarried Mums who were good cooks (she said she was always puzzled as little girls or boys she assumed were relatives seemed to vanish overnight )

So she couldn't cook either and thought kitchens were odd places.

We ate out a lot.

Do they still teach Home Economics?
