Mind you, the media based way of declaring death "with" Covid as far larger than it is (but it's a great story) has disguised the reality. It's no co-incidence that there have been NO Flu deaths in past months whereas normally, even WITH the vaccine, there were several hundreds a day.

I reckon today Saturday, the number will be below 1000. Sunday and Monday? Under 500. (Weekend figures are... oh fuck off, experts). Tuesday? Back up to 850 or so.

It's over. Well, as over as Flu became after the vaccine. So can we go back to normal by mid Feb please, Cabinet (known as Wankers)?

Totally agree. Just wish you had titled this thread "With Covid deaths drop to almost nothing". We have never known how many deaths there have been where Covid was the determining factor.

I'm sure it was in many cases; hidden among the hysterical inflation and frenzied searches for every last trace of Covid anywhere...

Yes let's hope that from March 8th things largely return to normal. There really is no excuse for this continuing beyond this date.

I think all we need to know is when all the elderly or vulnerable have been jabbed then we get back to normal. Simple. Stop looking for it everywhere.

It is just becoming a seasonal illness with a vaccine that will contribute to some deaths in the elderly every year...come to think of it sounds a bit like er flu...

As part of the "surge testing" for the SA variant I had a home test delivered to my doorstep and have taken the test today. My swab also dislodged two nostril hairs which are on their way to the testing lab as we speak....

We'll see Friday drop down under 500 again. Sat and Sun and Mon will be below 300 each day. Covid panic is OVER! It makes no sense. None of it makes sense. What is the point of jailing someone for not admitting they have been to a country on the list of doom, when people could mix with the "doom country people" in an approved country, get merrily infected, and then walk straight through the airport at home?

It's like trying to trap water. There is no point. It is politics, not public health. And that has been the main problem since last March.

When have statistics, facts or actual deaths ever mattered in this? It is a "religion" now. We need real political pressure (the print media are currently completely reliant on Gov for advertising "stay at home, save lives" clap trap..)

I have swung the other way completely now. I am so heartily sick of the lockdowns, pretendey stupid rules that mean nothing, and heartbroken from friends dying needlessly, that I would actually rather keep going until everybody is vaccinated, shut the boarders completely, and when it is gone (as it nearly was in summer) we can forget about it and never speak of it again!

What I fear will happen is that they will open everything up in a fortnight, and the virus will run free among the unvaccinated, mutate into something the vaccines wont work on, and we will be right back where we flipping started.
If you are going to bugger up the country at least make it worthwhile.

My single biggest fear now is not more lockdowns after too quick openings, but that the way we have responded to this virus has set a precedent and my children will grow up in a society lacking some of the freedoms and restraints on officials that me and my generation have taken for granted.

That idea breaks my heart.

These powers need to be revoked when there is no longer any possible justification for them (i.e post vaccination) or they will be abused and expanded on. Not enough people have read enough history. It can happen here, and is.
