A criminal confusion... 3 Years ago
Gosh we are so confused. We have one of the lowest ages of criminal responsibility (10) in the world but when it comes to Covid breaches it is the parents of teenagers who are responsible and will be fined not the teenagers:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56517486

What is the justification for making the parent responsible here? The parents don't get sent to prison when their 12 year old commits GBH - the 12 year old does. Blowed if I know...

It's getting worse, isn't it? Soon they will be raising the age of consent (what 16 year old can know about love? Raise it to 21). I've watched this insanity for my entire life. When I was born it was a crime punishable by death to fall in love with anybody of the same gender. Probably endorsed by the majority of Brits; certainly by all religions. Loonies who called killing someone the worst crime on earth advocated killing people who did it. Human beings are, essentially, moronic. I've always preferred dogs.

Why is it just the parents responsible?
Children spend most of their waking hours in school where the teachers are in loco parentis.
Fine the schools as well. Fine everyone!

Except dogs.

Govs expand legislation to cover subjective morality when all they should be interested in is tangible harm.

We end up with vacuous legislation, e.g "hate crime", signalling the moral purity of a Governing class simultaneously making criminals of 10 year olds & the mentally ill & spreading hatred against aslymun seekers fleeing war zones & creating tax heavens for a few & yes until recently saying gay sex is immoral and so fair game for attention and what always flows from self-righteous attention: hypocrisy.

Moralise the individual realm, but tell us that morality is naieve and has no place when it comes up against powerful vested interests in the public realm. Bankers acting immorally? We must grow up and understand the realities of financial life. Morality is for people, except the people grouped together who run things. Then it is no person's doing because a thing can't act immorally silly...
