Covid deaths on the rise again. 3 Years ago
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51768274

Covid deaths for saturday 10/04 were 40, compared to 10, the previous saturday. Using the figures from the same day, the previous week is the best indicator of the trend. I think re-opening of hospitality outdoors will increase the spread further. The stupid rule of 6 will increase the spread. sitting opposite someone who is infected, talking to them for about an hour, will inevitably lead to other people catching the virus. The rules state that you still have to socially distance from the others in the rule of 6, but this is largely ignored and virtually never enforced. It is virtually impossible for 6 or even 4 people to sit next to each other at a table and be 1m+ apart. The table would have to be as big as a snooker table. I don't think non-essential retail will make any difference, they could have opened months ago, with little effect. You walk past people momentarily for a split second with a mask on, miniscule risk. I seriously doubt whether the supposed complete removal of all restrictions will occur on 21st June. The consistent 3000+ cases a day will inevitably lead to new variants appearing, which the vaccine is ineffective against. Vaccines will have to be updated and we will have to all be re-vaccinated, leading to months and months of further lockdown.

I don't think this will happen Robbie. With all the vulnerable vaccinated in the UK (Europe slowly following) I think we will see it treated like a bad flu season going forward - which is what it is really. There are positive noises (from my point of view) even from SAGE types like Whitty that we need to start accepting a yearly level of fatalities with it.

I suspect that far more in power see Covid like some of us do than we realise, understand the mistake they have made in gross over reaction, and will start harnassing the propaganda machine to "living with Covid", taking personal responsibility & being sensible.

I hope I'm wrong Honey, but we've heard these promises from the government before. We will be thorough this within 12 weeks, and then we will be back to normal by Christmas, now how much confidence can I have in the 21st June, no more restrictions message. I understand that most vulnerable people have been vaccinated, but as I said the vaccine is I understand not very effective against the South African variant, let alone any new variants that may appear.
I hope that the government don't use this as a way of bringing in a "cashless" society. Cash is safer than contactless cards. Someone could in theory charge your card using a ready just by walking past you on the tube or bus, let alone the fact that if you lose your card someone could go on a spending spree now at £100 a time.

Better news today, 7 deaths and 1730 cases, which is the lowest number of deaths or cases since at least 21st December.

No Robbie; the Covid PanicDemic is over just like Flu is over (until they give us the wrong vaccine or whatever). But there will be another, far more deadly virus, like Ebola only more infectious. Mere lockdowns won't stop that; hundreds of millions will die. With luck we'll both be dead by then.

If its over then why are cinemas and theatres closed for at least another 5 weeks? I went past the turkish barbers today in Cranleigh, Surrey and the customers were sitting right next to each other waiting for a haircut. Apparently this is deemed safer than me going to a cinema, where there is probably going to be around 10 people in the whole cinema, going on last summers attendances.

Don't expect sense from any government Robbie except, partially, the Swedes. They all obey the media; the media inflates everything to get a better story.
