to stand back and ask - Why are we testing millions for stupid Covid? We don't do it for flu - and never did, even before vaccines. Yes, like flu Covid is an unpleasant virus which kills a few vulnerable, mainly the elderly, obese or near death. Yes, like flu the vulnerable will need booster jabs every year, usually upgraded as variants emerge. Yes, like flu billions will catch it with no or mild symptoms. Yes - most people getting it badly can get rid of it with bed, paracetamol, liquids and avoiding infecting others.

Should we be testing millions (at massive cost) for colds? Minor or asymptomatic versions of the common cold?

Vaccinate the vulnerable (don't bother with the healthy majority). Protect the elderly. Warn the obese, smokers, weak. Get on with life. Don't kill millions by over reacting to media hype. Just because a "killer plague" was a great story, don't fall for it. Use common sense.

Because our leaders can't admit they made a mistake.

I'm going for my first jab today; some people seem so happy for me it is as if I have dodged a bullet. In myself I am totally indifferent to the 0% chance in my 40s and in good health of dying of Covid or the 0% chance of dying from the vaccine. I'm funny like that...

Just another boring need-to apt like my eye test tomorrow.

I had a conversation this morning with a stranger in a beer garden, his wife sadly died after a battle with cancer but her death certificate says she died Covid.

I have read quite a few stories like this. Why we have been/are so keen to find it everywhere I have no idea; but the rational argument was lost long ago. I miss chatting to strangers - on trains, in beer gardens & elsewhere. Goodness nows how lonely some poor people must have been this past year...

There’s some sort of the old normal in the beer garden’s Wyot. Once people have a had a couple of drinks they feel at ease talking to strangers. I dread to think how many people have killed them selves over the year due to lockdowns. It’s nice to do proper shopping again and the record shops are very welcoming. HMV seems to be more expensive now.

I am sure some have killed themselves because of lockdown, obviously, and others will have been saved by it, but mostly the disturbance is within ourselves rather than external.

I can well understand why they would want to test for covid.

What puzzles me is why they want to pretend they are testing for covid when they are not.
