Like them or loathe them BCR certainly had a large following in the 70s, helped on by JK
Yes they made some great punky pop songs like Shang-a-lang, summer love sensation, and Give a little love, as well as us no.1 Saturday night.
I vaguely remember them from the 70s, as i was in infant school, however I've got to know their music since and it always puts a smile on your face.
I saw their re-union tour 5 years ago at Hammersmith apollo with Les, Alan, and Woody. Alan died about 3 years ago, and now with Les gone, it only leaves 3 members left from the classic line-up. Les has struggled with alcohol abuse in the last few years, and no doubt this may have been a factor in his relatively early death.
There will be 1000s of very sad middle-aged women today, who would have been roller fans during the mid-70s, and would have very fond memories of those more innocent times.

Helped by jk, only a little bit. Only 2 members survived from the group that jk worked with to their next hit "Remember" 2.5 years later. They were mainly helped by Bill Martin and Phil Coulter, who wrote most of their hits.
Les should have been a millionnaire, considering how many millions of records they sold, not to mention all the merchandise, but they weren't paid a penny for all the compilations that roller's hits appeared on.
It is difficult to get a good writer unless you have already got a foot in the door. Mr King provided that, and unless I am mistaken, a big chunk of the vocals too?

Fair enough, producing that single and providing backing vocals would help, as would anyone who gave them gigs or radio play, but subsequent singles flopped, and it wasn't until the introduction of Les Mckeown 2.5 years later that their fortunes changed.

I have to admit their very early stuff is bland and amateurish, the singles are very demo like.
It’s a shame how they were treated and only got a pittance when Sony bought their catalogue. I thought Les was sober for many years obviously not. I am more a Rollers fan with Duncan Faure on vocals. Maybe Duncan could revive BCR with the surviving members. I hope Voxx gets re-released I have lost my copies.

Yes I only knew him briefly (Nobby was lead singer for my hit). Rather a large chip on his shoulder I always felt.
It seems he was at loggerheads with them even after the court case. However he could certainly reform BCR with some members for a final BCR tour.
Fans will still go if band is made up from the original or classic line up. However this is not BCR and Woody should not be using the name.

Well its more BCR than a group without even one of them in it, and they are fast running out of options.
As long as the adverts make it very clear that there is only Woody, it looks like good fun.

This would be my line up BCR if they were to do one last tour.

Bearing in mind the main lead singer, Les, could only sell very small theatres, such as Horsham capitol for his "Legendary Bay City Rollers tour". This lot could barely sell out a church hall.
Not to mention Eric and Derek weren't prepared to go on the money spinning tour of 2015, they are not likely to sign up to perform with Nobby Clark, who nowone remembers as singer of that one single. As for Pat McGlynn, the singles had dried up by that time. Without Les and Alan, sadly there can be no Bay City Rollers.
