I'm a bit nervous about writing this, as I wrote the same in a private letter to John Le Carre - he replied at length - and he died a few years later! Great writers should live forever, especially when they improve with age. Gerry - as a student - lived near us in Surrey and did gardening duties for my Mum.

Great tip JK. I have noticed that we enjoy a number of the same authors. I hadn't read GS before but have just finished "Beyond Recall". As you say - superb. He is one of the best thriller writers I have everread - and I now have his vast back catalogue to pick off; so thank you.
