Last Monday evening a good friend of mine politely asked two drunken youths to stop swearing outside his property. They had been shouting obscenities at passers by whilst having the gall to sit on my friend's front wall. My friend received threats of violence and was told 'We will torch your place you mother ******!' Cans and bottles were thrown at him, and so my friend quite naturally dialled 999. He was then informed that there may be a delay as the police were busy dealing with another incident. 15 minutes later the flare up had intensified and now said delightful teens were pounding on my friend's front door. They were trying his patience let's say to put it mildly. 25 minutes still no police. Youths still throwing objects, thumping at his door, shouting abuse. My friend, who is an ex professional boxer, decided enough was enough. Dialled 999 for a second time, and then went outside again to confront the two delinquents. One of the youths threw a punch, my friend ducked out of the way, got the youth in an armlock and wrestled him to the ground. The other youth ran off as the police trundled into view and my friend forcefully held down youth against the pavement, youth's head pushed against the concrete.

What happened next? mmmmmmmmmm...? I'll tell you all on Monday (I'm away for the weekend)...In the meantime hazzard a guess.

... my mate was arrested charged with assault, ABH, and an affray. Youth was charged with ...wait for it...affray. Thankfully there were witnesses so when it does go to trial he should...I repeat...should...be allowed to walk free. We'll wait and see.
