That's right - almost 11,000 people stopped and searched by the police under terror laws in only one month !

The police state is here. They now use these draconian laws whenever they want - making us ALL unsafe.

Well you've seen control of sex offenders being used to move the goalposts of freedom of movement, information and surveillance which are implemented for public safety sees it's scope extended and which in fact applies to us all.

The threat of terrorism, as it stands or is perceived to stand, and which we (well our government) is signifcantly responsible for in the first place, gives them the opportunity to pretty much do away with goalposts altogether in the interests of 'our' safety.

Your children's children are likely to be processed from cradle to grave as government pieces of meat.

DNA samples taken at birth, fingerprinted through school, then having to have ID cards, more and more companies having to supply information on you to government (more than just the travel questionnaires for ever increasing numbers of countries we now get), integrated databases across government, international sharing of this information.

No real right to protest, challenge laws, the move to make parliament obsolete (e.g. Iraq war)

Orwellian Times indeed

If the Police all get guns we should insist on having them too - only fair - and let's face it that's a major argument for our 'merrican friends having them so widely, so they can defend themselves against the tyranny of the state or something

Absolutely right, Uberman .... never trust those who brought us the "dangers" to protect us from those alleged dangers !

Those 11,000 stopped last month all faced up to 28 days detention without charge or access to lawyers, yet may have committed no crime at all (save challenging a government, maybe?)
