Legal Aid and Barristers strike 1 Year, 9 Months ago

In my 2001 trial I believed you do not hire a dog and bark yourself. I spent all my savings on the best lawyers money could buy who were also, of course, the most expensive. A million pounds they cost me and I was wrongly convicted, given a seven year sentence of which I served only half - without doing any courses as I refused to admit any guilt to crimes that never took place. In 2015 Surrey Police tried again. By then I had learned not to try to buy a defence team. Luckily I had found excellent lawyers including a great QC all of whom were happy to defend me on Legal Aid as I simply did not have any money. They worked incredibly hard as did my Legal Aid Private Investigator, because they believed in my innocence. And I worked hard too; identifying areas of weakness, discovering lies, pointing my PI at the people we needed to interview, get sworn affidavits, proving the accusations were false.
The results were brilliant. I was declared Not Guilty of several claims and any future trial was banned by the Judge who, after seeing all our defence evidence, called the police behaviour "a debacle".
So yes, I'm in full support of hugely raising the Legal Aid so other innocent men and women who, like me, cannot afford private representation, can be properly defended against False Accusers, many of whom are deliberately trying to pervert the course of justice. And succeeding.
