TOPIC: "disgraced" Boy George

"disgraced" Boy George 2 Years, 8 Months ago
I knew George long before he was famous..lovely wit and nice guy (when not drugged)

I've pondered on the fact he isn't "disgraced" as celebs often are after some ordeal.

Who makes these rules?. Everyone is entitled to re-enter society after a stint inside, as a full citizen with all rights restored.

I've been reading the history of Australia's convict era (there weren't that many really) and how an enlightened British Governor decreed ex-convicts should re-enter society with full rights and encouragement, a lot to do with not creating a permanent criminal class.

And they did..some given land grants went on to become leading pastoral families, some became architects, lawyers, even magistrates and MPs.

Yet we've gone back wards unlike the Scandinavian countries who see the benefits in this.

## Is Boy George's thankful ability to peruse his career the fact it was a "gay" crime and therefore regarded as not so serious?

Didn't help me much Hedda! But perhaps BiSexuality is the ultimate crime to both Hets and Queens.

I don't think it is about him or his sexuality it is about his crime - which didn't hit one of the moral outrage areas. You can be accepted back into society if you use violence against adults, or even kill them. You can even have a lucrative book and appearances career if you are an ex gangster thug/killer. Not if you pinched too many bums on a film set in 1970, though. Them be the current rules.
