Radiohead the band have decided to let people download their new LP direct from the Internet. And the good news is that they can choose how much to pay!
Be interesting to see how much they get.But even more interesting is that they have no record deal.Normally a bad thing, but perhaps they've realised that concerts and merchandising are the way forward?
When people download the LP they'll have to go to their website, and on it they'll be adverts for concert tickets, and paid items to order.A groundswell of generosity can mean good profits from those items.
It used to be concerts were there to promote LPs,well now it seems it's the opposite way round.
Kick in the eye for the monopolist labels, and another example of a British band showing some commonsense:)
Funny thing, but the BBC article is much more positive than the Guardian article JK mentioned in Tipsheet.
