BARRY GEORGE - as we predicted - Not Guilty 16 Years, 5 Months ago
None of us care about the years in prison for an innocent man (these days, of course, you're guilty unless you can prove your innocence).

Nobody I met in the prison system thought he was guilty.

Nobody outside (except Nick Ross who spent far too much time with police to have good judgement) thought he was guilty.

Retrial? What a waste of our money.

Like Sion Jenkins - another witch hunt.

Meanwhile actual murderers go free.

These days, British Justice Stinks.

I thought the police had no other evidence than the residue, which has been ruled as unreliable. What can they offer at a retrial?

No bail; remanded in custody; keep an innocent man locked up why not?

This country is disgusting.

Why is he not out on bail, I cannot understand this system.

Still the longer he stays in, the more compensation he'll get. I can understand Nick Ross getting compassionate about this trial, because it was a close friend and colleague, but the police have been appalling bad as well as the trial itself.

I feel extremely sorry for Barry George, especially (as per JK's comments) everyone on the inside knows he is innocent.

I would also like to spare a thought for the Dando family who must be utterly mortified at the fact that the real killer is still at large.

I agree, set him free and please do not waste more taxpayers money on pointless court cases, (Diana inquest being another example).

I've said it all along. I've been sneered at, cajoled, abused by one person, for having believed him innocent. One complete fool declared that "Barry George is a convicted rapist!!" Like that somehow means he must be guilty of shooting dead a blonde TV host!

We seem to be taking it for granted he'll be found not guilty at his retrial.

One would hope so, but since his fate lies in the hands of a random bunch of jurors and the unreliable (at best) British judicial system, I won't be rushing down to the bookies to place a bet.

Delighted that justice may be on the way of being done.

One of my "bug bear" cases is the Stefan Kiszko one, where he was beaten up by Police for a confession, because the Police thought he was "odd" and had obviously murdered a little girl. Great detective work there guys! There was no way however that he could have raped and murdered her because he was sterile - the Police knew this yet did not pass on this evidence because they couldn't be bothered in finding the right person - is this the same story again with Barry George? Recently they have found the "right man" - the right man who had been free to roam for three decades.

This country is the turd of Europe.
