Might watch Children In Need to catch a glimpse of Fiona Bruce's legs. OOPS! Shouldn't have said that...if tomorrow she is shot I'll be up for murder!

Wouldn't you love Children In Need to declare - this year we've raised less than ever before.

I hate, hate, hate bad TV and bad music expecting to be forgiven because they are "for charity".

In fact I hate designer charity and people glowing with smug satisfaction because they have loudly contributed a small sum to a worthy cause.

Charity is doing good without anyone knowing.
Public generosity is moral masturbation.

I used to like Children In Need when it was small and spontaneous - back in the days when Roy Kinear and Patrick Moore would arrive in the studio on motorbike and sidecar. It was new and different. Now it's crammed to the hilt with 'stars' promoting themselves.

The only bit I caught last night was around Midnight when I was scanning the channels before switching off. It was the Doctor Who sketch with Peter Davison. When he was the Doctor I thought he was one of the weakest. Now I've seen him alongside David Tennant, I realise he wasn't that bad after all. But what a waste of ten minutes. "What did you do to my Tardis? Are you a fan?" "No I'm you." "Oh! Better fix this time thing." "Yeah, OK. Bye. Don't forget your hat." Hmm

Couldnt agree with you more. It seems more like an excuse for the BBC to have a cheap evening of broadcasting (i.e. MOST celebs will waive their fee). It reminds me of house parties at my school before the end of term at Christmas where each yeargroup did a sketch after the dinner - amateurish, OTT and rarely funny.

As it's been for a number of years, it's an excuse for pop-stars/groups to plug their new material.

I don't know why I even bother tuning it to watch it.

Can't even comment on any highlights, as there weren't any (Dr Who episode was awful, nothing like the series).

Out of interest JK, in 1985 when you did your column on Live Aid in the Sun, have you got a link so I can see the content please. I was only 11 at the time and my Dad said that your column was one of the best pieces he has ever read.

Thanks JK.
