The New England Manager..... 16 Years, 5 Months ago
...will require a mild knowledge of football, but not an obsession.

HAVE a great knowledge of the media and its ups and downs

BE a talented public speaker, particularly good at speaking in the face of adversity.

KNOW full well that he will be a scapegoat ineveitably and accept the consequences of this when taking the job.

WILL let nasty comments roll off his back like a well oiled duck lets rain drops drip away.

BE able to organise a good show and organise the award ceremony afterwards even when facing defeat.

Any ideas?

Don't you love the FA Chairman's excuse...

"we care".

Yeah caring's fine but doing's better.

It needs to be a manager who isn't afraid to clear out the old players and pick his own team. So far, each successive manager has just carried on with the team selected by his predecessor, making the change of manager pointless. The new manager must be a good strategist, good with people, strong willed but not overly stubborn.

He should also have the freedom to pick any English player, not just those from the Premiership and Championship.

I also think he should be English - although I know a few people disagree with me on that. Personally I think that if the whole package isn't English, then it weakens the achievement. We invented football. We should be able to win games without international assistance. I believe we can, with the right people.

I used to be believe he/she(?)should be English, but in an age in which the best of the Premiership players are not I think this issue is more than academic and I personally would love to have Jose in the job seriously.

Wanting an English manager is all well and good. It is of no consequence to me but I can see why it may matter to others. The problem is that there is not one English manager with the abilities, credentials or past record of achievements to warrant the post. We would be heading off down that familiar road yet again. Destination failure.
