I saw abhorrent behaviour - of Jimmy Savile 2 Weeks, 2 Days ago
Today an ex-Harrods boss says he witnessed abhorrent behaviour of Al Fayed - but it's all in the viewer. I watched Savile teasing a patient in Stoke Mandeville, lying there wishing she was dead, paralyzed from the neck down. He insisted on getting nurses to do her hair. He joked that she was so gorgeous he was going to take her dancing and threatened to get into bed with her. She came to life, burst into laughter, came back from the dead. I thought he was almost a saint. Everyone else found him abhorrent.

I saw that article too and kept waiting for a description of the abhorrent behaviour. Perhaps it was too abhorrent to describe.

I'm surprised by your recollections of Jimmy Savile. Surely you should have realised by now which way the wind was blowing and "remember" that he made vile suggestions to a paraplegic and threatend her with rape.

I think the turnaround by Vanessa Feltz, recalibrating as sexual assault what she recollected last year as a positive encounter, just shows how those cynical and dishonest enough to jump on the bandwagon can operate. Not forgetting of course those bandwagoners who have no recollections as they never even met the person. (Of course, am assuming that Feltz actually met Al Fayed.)

Yes Jo times have indeed changed - in 2024 that would indeed have happened. As I turned around and looked back and saw a tragic, miserable woman suddenly changed to a laughing one with happiness in her eyes, I started really to admire SJS. The rest of our day there (I was with my brother) saw many other similar acts of kindness, often shaped as outrageous or tasteless; often shocking nurses and doctors but ALWAYS giving a laugh, a chuckle or a wry smile to the victims of accidents.

For myself I say Al fayed and Savile are two very dead men who do not have the ability to speak in their own defence. Unless through a medium. Louis Theroux interviewed his PA Janet Cope who knew him better than anyone. She refused to believe the allegations and said she never saw any deviousness or unpleasantness. I am far more inclined to listen to those that knew him rather than those who have been told what to think about the guy. That's my take.
