Phillip Schofield 2 Weeks, 1 Day ago
A comeback for a presenter I intensely disliked and thought very shallow especially after him waving those papers with names at then PM David Cameron.

But he has been shabbily treated and I am glad he's getting a second chance.
www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment...nnel-5-b2618387.html

I wonder if I'll say that about Keir Sausages Starmer when his time comes?

I try on Twitter to correct the crazies who blame him for the Savile allegations when the DPP correctly did not charge Savile (no complainants)but they're having none of it.

The latest of course is the Diddy Holmes drama with 1000s basically saying Justin Beiber must have been abused. Poor thing.

I wonder if Vanessa Feltz was attacked by Diddy Holmes at a Barmitzvah or even a Batmitzvah !
Always possible.

that's Sean Diddy Combs of course who may have asked Vanessa Feltz to come up and view his etchings.

I did meet Combs briefly many years ago in a nightclub but was not invited to share any baby oil.

Apparently he’s doing a cast away programme just him alone on desert island for channel five.
Already lies saying he’s without food and water for 10 days which is impossible
Maybe he’ll have to kill and eat Gordon the Gopher!

Perhaps Phillip Schofield has accepted this offer to appear cast away on a desert island because he feels it reflects how he's been treated.

Anybody who thinks Schofield is on that island alone for ten days, or without food supplied in some form doesn't know how TV really works.

Why does he think he has an automatic right to constantly be on TV anyway? It's the impression he gives.

He seems to lack a moral compass.

What he did was immoral in every way possible but not illegal. People had gut feeling he was going to get sacked from ITV so he came out, people knew he was gay anyway. Not forgetting he was regular in the bars before he was a household name.

My only gripe with Schofield is that I found rather bland and vacuous, rather like the Willoughby woman. His faux frowning at the behaviour of others I sometimes had the misfortune to see on the dreadful This Morning, and then the toothy grins at brighter news...Willoughby dancing around a wheel on on the phone in game shows...gawd it was--is..a terrible show which assumes all its viewers are dunces.

And people know why I don't watch TV. ITV has always been to corny and shite. Do ITV still show the same films on weekly a loop with bad edits so they don't offend? I hate it when presenters talk to actors about their latest project. They say how good it is; most times the film becomes a box office flop or breaks even.

I remember David Dickinson had a talk show where he spoke about a new album coming out, the singer said 'It's not a new album'.

You can show a lot of nudity on TV after 9pm but they bleep out mild words in sitcoms even if they are shown in the early hours. I went to a friend's house a few years back he watched Only Fools on Gold. All the swear words were bleeped out or the scene jumps despite being shown at midnight.

I remember when itv broadcast the film Arthur---the original with Dudley Moore and the great John Gielgud. The only funny bits in the film are when Gielgud retorts with expletives every now and then. ITV cut them all. Criminal.

I've not seen a more alarming case of creeping megalomania among TV people than Schofield's career. He started out okay - not my cup of tea, but he was a jolly sort of youth presenter who was obviously just thrilled to be on TV. But once ITV gave him a golden handcuffs deal, he gradually went mad: increasingly smug, increasingly pompous, increasingly bullying of others, increasingly convinced he was some kind of national treasure. Daytime TV people often delude themselves that most of the nation are watching them rather than out at work; This Morning rarely attracted a million viewers, and most of those just had the show on the background while they got on with other stuff. But Schofe believed the world was hanging on his every word. He started a Twitter account to announce all of the meals he was eating, launched an 'expert' wine service with Waitrose, interviewed politicians as if he had a clue about politics, crept up to the royals, etc etc - he'd lost all perspective. And I hate the fact he's been handed a way back in; he's deeply cynical and self-obsessed, which, of course, makes him ideal for TV, but, nonetheless, unwelcome amongst sane people.

Theres no swearing in "Only Fools and Horses". The show was always broadcast before the watershed. There were a few racist tropes that were common parlance back in the day such as the P-word or the C-word for Chinese people, but no actual swear words.

According to this, Castaway will be Schofield's last appearance on TV.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czxdwv4v1p7o

Until his next last appearance, and the one after that, and on and on....a bit like those who forever keep coming out of retirement to perform again.

Maybe it's radio next instead then, there were suggestions at one point a few months ago that he might show up on Talk, which I always found very hard to believe actually.

There is a Shit in both Jolly Boys Outing and Mother's Nature Son and a Bastard in Stage Fright and Rodney Come Home.

Not forgetting the middle finger in To Hull and Back is sometime blurred or cut out.

Not forgetting "A shilling a day, and a horse shit sandwich".

Oddly the actor Craig Mclachlan did a similar sort of survival TV program as an attempt to get back into show business but it hasn't worked.

Also noticeable is the absence of wonderful actor (who I have known a long time before fame hit..he's devoted to his wife).) is actor Geoffrey Rush..

In both cases they were found Not Guilty in a court (ie: innocent) of abuse but the offers of work dried up.

Both are examples of accusations alone being able to wreck people's lives.

Geoffrey Rush was a founder and funder of the ACCTA AWARDS..Australia's answer to the Oscars which brought dozens of international actors to their awards night.

But they took Rush's name off the board and dumped him after he was accused,

After the dumping of Rush when the awards organizers sent me invitations to the Awards I told them to stick it up their arse and as invites never came after 3 years I guess they did.

I'm sorry to hear that about Craig McLachlan and Geoffrey Rush. It's terrible that people's careers can be destroyed just by accusation.

Any word about how Robert Hughes is faring? His Wikipedia page says "In May 2014, he was convicted of sexual offences against children and sentenced to ten years, nine months' imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of six years.", so presumably he's out of jail. I remember coming across information about the accusations against him when following the Rolf Harris case and suspecting that they too were bogus.

Hughes has been out of jail for sometime now and moved back to his native England.

His wife Robyn Gardinir, a top actor's agent, based herself in Singapore for a time but I presume is now in the UK with her husband.

The rotten media tried time and time again to embarrass her celebrity clients such as Cate Blanchet to leave but they held firm and refused to abandon her.

Gardinir's ex agency partner whose name escapes me, now runs an country retreat for the abused (with government funding)that has been questioned a few times in TV shows over weird practices.

Oddly the last time I saw Geoffrey Rush was at a Theater dedication (just before he was accused) where he was the special guest and at the event was the owner of the so-called retreat for the abused.

People kept an obvious distance from her and her eyes looked most odd darting about as she seemed really paranoid..

Other actors accused of abuse , found innocent but who vanished from our screens include Maggie Kirkpatrick from Prisoner and John Jarret of Wolf Creek.

Looks as if Robert Hughes is likely to be in the UK. From Wikipedia:

Hughes requested an international prisoner transfer to the UK, due to holding dual British-Australian citizenship. However, he later withdrew this application and instead renounced his Australian citizenship, meaning he would be deported to the United Kingdom once paroled or his sentence completed. As a result, the New South Wales State Parole Authority refused parole in March 2020 as he would be deported and not under supervision, thus presenting an 'unacceptable risk to community safety'. On 2 June 2022 Hughes was granted parole, to face deportation to the United Kingdom. On the morning of 14 June 2022, Hughes was released into the custody of Australian Border Force officers to ensure he would be flown straight out of the country.

Renouncing Australian citizenship sounds like a logical step if he felt he'd been falsely accused and convicted.

Thank you for your reply, hedda. What you say is very interesting. It's terrible that these other actors should have vanished too. I remember John Jarratt from McLeod's Daughters.

I had come across the ex agency partner's name at the time of Rolf Harris's first trial, but had forgotten it, and I also remember you writing about seeing her at an event. I Googled and it's Liz Mullinar and the organisation she founded is called Heal for Life.

Found this 2013 blog post, titled Heal for Life, by Robert Hughes' prime accuser Sarah Monahan; according to his Wikipedia page, she made her accusations in 2010:

...

There was Hetty Johnston and Bravehearts. There was several people behind the scenes. Then there was Liz Mullinar. She had been the casting director for Hey Dad, and she had been on TV several times to talk about what she knew.

I hadn’t seen or communicated with Liz since I was a teenager. But I felt the need to write everyone a letter and thank them for standing by me over the last two years.

I wrote to Liz, and she wrote back. She asked me if I would accept her invitation to come to Heal For Life. She knew how hard this journey was, and wanted to make sure I was going to be OK. I had read about Heal For Life. It seemed like an awesome place, and I had wished I was in Australia to attend it. There was several programs to choose from. Liz invited me to the private retreat, or the regular healing week. Something told me this was something I really needed to do. You know how the little voice inside you just screams sometimes? So, I worked out when I could get leave. I knew I had enough frequent flyer miles to do the trip. I just had to work out when there was a healing week and flights….

So in March I finally made it back to Australia. Funnily enough, it was the one week of the year that Liz wasn’t at Heal For Life. She was on a cruise with her sister, but it was still amazing.

...

I remember seeing interviews on YouTube with Robert Hughes' niece, who also accused him, and thinking she seemed strangely robotic and being prompted by the interviewer (who now works for CNN). The interviews still seem to be there, e.g.:
