On the BBC they showed an old bit of film and blurred the faces of school children, probably so that predators couldn't recognise them even though they will look different now. Then later they showed a current bit of film featuring today's school kids but did not blur any of the faces.

Similarly, a few days ago my local TV news showed a 20 year old photo of a man with his wife and baby. They blurred out the baby's face. Meanwhile, when they talked to his current relatives, including kids, they didn't blur any images.

That seemed a bit backwards to me.

and you are right..iut's very difficult to look at old photos of yourself and relate to it being you say 30 years later (not me of course..adorable child and adorable adult but different looking )..

Very true that 'political correctness"..good in some ways but like "feminism" and most movements is eventually wrecked by idiots who are often far more "radical" (or think they are) and fanatical and eventually turn everyone off.

I think this syndrome is explainable in this way : I had a close pal who became a policeman and was very strict and moralizing to the point of driving everyone nuts but in his mid-30s finally smoked some Marijuana and eventually left the Police and became the most boring fanatical druggie known to man ..an aggravating Hippy who looked ridiculous and God only knows where he ended up.
