One MP's over reaction to an aggressive stranger is not representative of the entire Party. Lee Anderson physically attacked a couple of people whilst a Tory. Steve Bray was one. Another was a guy with a camera. In this case Mr Amesbury was approached in the dark by an aggressive man up for a fight. After the murders of Jo Cox and Tory MP David Amess, one can understand reacting forcefully if they felt threatened.
Not sure why you've addressed this question to me, GM. I'm sure that criminal behaviour cuts across all political persuasions. There might even be some criminal Lib Dems!

What has throwing a punch got to do with political alleigance? I don't get this thread. Some people with blue eyes speed in their cars as do some people with brown eyes. So what?
The Tories/right GM are called "nasty" because of their policies not pugilistic potential.
I do though agree that in itself this is a silly argument.

Short memory Jo. There are, a one time well fancied potential future Lib Dem leader and coalition Secretary Of State for Energy has even done jail time. Chris Huhne.
It was Keir Starmer who prosecuted him and got him put inside!
Wiki quote - "Starmer created some controversy about the prospect of a fair trial by personally announcing on television on 3 February 2012 that both Huhne and Pryce had been charged with perverting the course of justice. Huhne thereupon resigned from the Cabinet."

Because you are far-left.
Current Labour under Starmer is as far right as you can get.
Under Corbyn it was definitely left with a left manifesto (although in reality those policies were quite mild and prospered under previous genuine conservative and labour governments)
I know nothing of this MP and the CCTV is pretty shocking but on twitter numerous constituents say he is an excellent MP.

Really? That's a new one on me!

Good point, Rich. I had completely forgotten that.

Ed Davey is known to let other people to go jail for him. Surely that is perverting the course of justice?
Chris wrote: You're going to prison Mike Amesbury. At least 3 years. Isn't that the going rate Starmer for such street violence?
Depends on what Two Tier Kier wants to do, send meanor silly Tweets or memes you are charged then banged up.
Punching a bloke in the street, Starmer will suspend him and hope it gets swept under the rug or he uses a distaction like the Budget. An average bloke would be in the docks and be sent to prison.

I thought Prescott's punch all those years ago was superior - he knew what he was doing! Better times....
There's no comparing Prescott's punch at the 2001 election to this Amesbury bully.
Prescott just acted instantly and instinctively in the moment while sober with one quick go . Many of us might have done that. Whereas Amesbury carried out a sustained attack with a man flat on his back who had not physically done him any harm. Perhaps it's not the first time Amesbury has behaved like this in his life, just the time he got caught.
So why hasn't he been charged yet when the evidence is clear. Others in the summer had been arrested, charged and jailed inside a week.
The recall petition against him must surely be a foregone conclusion I hope.
