Not sure how a private prosecution can stand if a public prosecution cannot. Confused.

Ah - this is the whole USING THE LAW TO BREAK THE LAW I've been going on about for years Cat. Bent or corrupt lawyers offer No Win No Fee deals to failed "victims" and most acquitted have died and their estates settle before civil trials. Or the GUILTY (often innocent) go to jail and cannot defend themselves. But recently lawyers are targetting the innocent acquitted knowing they cannot afford to defend themselves and will settle. Those brave (and wealthy enough) to fight run the risk of the wrong decision in civil courts. A few good lawyers defend civil on legal aid type costs. And a few bright false accusers spot that there can be a massive down side financially if they lose a civil trial. But a case like this emboldens the good actors, prepared to weep and sob in court as they lie. And the stupid believe the crooked lawyers and blindly let matters proceed. Some of the bent lawyers go bust and that's the end of it unless - as in WHIPLASH - they set up again under a different name - using the law to continue to break the law. It needs exposing.
