Immigration - why can nobody answer my solution? 2 Weeks, 2 Days ago
Very low price cheap ferries put on several times a week with tight security on landing. It would cut the smugglers out completely (money talks but lack of profits shout). It would have little effect on those trying to come in but would save the cost and effort of policing the Channel. It simplifies the process of entrance (and exit). It has little to do with "should we let more people in" - it just stops death and saves millions of wasted funds.

I like the idea in principal, and its humanity.

Clearly those coming in on the ferries would immediately be processed and possibly held and many sent back on them.

I suspect a parallel criminal market would spring up though for those who just want to arrive and vanish.

Nearly 100,000 Brits emigrate every year and around 600,000 die each year.

Very much doubt asylum seekers number that many.
