Why are programmes like Rough Justice and Trial And Error "long gone" though, as the article notes? These are the kind of television in the public interest that the BBC should be seeking to make that sets them apart from commercial rivals who won't.
Didn't World In Action sometimes do these kind of investigations too? That was ITV. I listened to that brilliant theme earlier and wow what gravitas that conveys about that programme, it meant business and was serious journalism. There was even one on chart rigging in 1980! How such important programmes like this are no longer made or on TV absolutely baffles me, they are needed badly, and the BBC certainly has no excuses for not making them.
