TOPIC: Reform UK

Reform UK 2 Weeks, 4 Days ago
Imminent local elections are expected to see Reform gains - in the light of voter dissatisfaction with the main parties.

With little opposition coming from the Conservatives - and feuds (Rayner/Starmer) said to happening in government.

I just hope all these Reform gains in the local election can stop the new builds for illegal migrants. Starmer has no plans to smash the gangs.

Starmer and Badenoch are awful. Possibly the worst leaders ever. Reform would be a disaster for the UK. Farage is nothing but a grifting racist Trumpist. There is no-one in opposition to capture the nation's imagination. Zilch, nada. Ditto USA, which is why Trump is in power.

Farage is not a racist but he is a grifter; the mask slipped just after he left UKIP all those years ago.

Many English people seem to have an addiction to ruining their own country, voting for Farage once already - after all, he was the face of Brexit.

Reform will only end up making life even worse for Jo/Joe Public.

People need to give up the illusion that voting changes things. I have no idea how Reform can make things worse. It started with Boris and Starmer is continuing the destruction like a drunk wrecking ball operator.

Starmer thinks Tories and Reform are bad? They can't do any worse than turning the UK into a third-world communist state. Even Mirror readers in the comments can't stand Labour.

Does SKY News still have live orgasms over Starmer?

Only someone increasingly divorced from reality like yourself can't imagine how things can't get worse, Green Man.

I agree. Most of the people voting for Reform now probably voted for Brexit. So they must either think their lives and the country have benefited from Brexit or, as I suspect, most haven't given the issue any thought, just as I suspect most didn't give any thought to EU membership (After Brexit Vote, Britain Asks Google: 'What Is The EU?') before the Brexit campaigners got them stirred up.

A majority of people now - rightly or wrongly - blame largely uncontrolled immigration on all societies problems, from crime to getting a GP appointment.

Until Starmer or the Tories stop it and throw large numbers out of the country, nothing they say or do will make any difference.

They know this so I predict both will lurch towards total border control and do something about it, trying to out tough each other.

Things will get ugly indeed...

I can't predict what will happen when immigration is controlled and people are still unhappy, but it will be "interesting" to see...

I notice Reform won a seat with a miniscule majority. Do these local elections reflect what would happen in a general election?

Reform still have a tiny number of MPs but some pundits are saying they could win a GE. But Labour has such an amazing majority of seats (on a vote less than Corbyn got).

However how many of these new Labour seats are on small majorities?

Interesting about The Mirror such a staunch (previously) Labour supporter.

Do you really think Communist states are "failed"?

The USSR build it's economy into a powerhouse under Communism despite the hideousness of the murderous Stalin.

China under Communism has absolutely surged beyond all belief but of course it cherry picks Capitalism and market economy principles as needed.
The Chinese are the most practical people on the planet and will easily switch to whatever system suits it at the time.

I recall an interview several years ago with China's most famous singer who was also a "dissident" but tolerated because of this popularity.

But he also maintained that China was so big and complicated that it probably could not operate under any other system.

Even Vietnam has grown in leaps and bounds since it won the horrible war against the USA in the 60s.

I'd wager even Cuba with the might of the USA unfairly attempting to demolish it is still a far better place for it's citizens than when Baptista ran the place.

I can't think of a failed Communist state but I'm happy to hear if there is one.

I'm well aware through friends who lived in Poland as a USSR satellite that life was grim.

I'd even say that the USA is now in decline as a world power and it could be the beginning of a failed Capitalist state.

## I don't want to live in a Communist state and much happier living in a social democracy.

Genocide? You mean like the USA waged against Vietnam and Cambodia in the 1960s killing up to 3 million innocent citizens for nothing but a Capitalist ideology?.

100,000s died in Cambodia when the war criminal Henry Kissinger delayed peace so Richard Nixon could get elected.

Or the Korean War where it's estimated the USA slaughtered 800,000 Chinese and Korean soldiers and 800,000 civilians?

Or perhaps Iraq war where the UK and the USA invaded on lies and also decimated..it's estimated to be at least a million people?.

Wars that have displaced 100,000s of people who have fled to the West.

Maybe you mean the Libyan invasion by the UK & USA that killed 10,000s.

Perhaps the genocide currently being waged with UK & US weapons against the Palestinians in Gaza that has killed an estimated 44,000.

False flag operations do that Hedda.

I never voted for Blair or Bush. I didn't even vote at the local or GE elections.

I can think of one failed Communist state- Yugoslavia.

But really that fell apart when the strong man Tito died and it was always a cobbled together country of differing groups who never got on with each other.

Can't believe people are falling for Reform's superficial rubbish, like a "patriotic" school curriculum and sacking people involved in DEI. What's their policy on stemming inflation and resolving the cost of living crisis? They don't seem to have one.
