Yankers seek death for Guantanamo Six 16 Years, 2 Months ago
After years being kept in isolation, denied proper legal representation, and being tortured, the USA is planning to FINALLY charge six detainees (prisoners of war) - and is seeking the death penalty.

Makes chopping off hands and other punishments look almost civilized, doesn't it?

Well, despite not agreeing with the whole Guantanamo thing, if these guys are indeed guilty, then they deserve everything they get.

Frrrrrrying tonight!

I'm only surprised that they have not "confessed" to killing Abraham Licoln and taking part in the Great Train Robbery too - after 5 years of torture !!!

Nothing wrong with stringing up those who actually committed the 9/11 murders...and nothing wrong with punishing those responsible for authorising the criminal concentration camp at Guantanamo.
After the sort of horrors we hear about daily from guantanamo there is no way any trial related to that place will be respectred by the rest of the world.
Having worked in Iraq I've personally felt the hatred towards the west develop because of this misguided policy.Militants are often recruited on the basis of the anti Islamic actions like these, and of course a look at the mess in Afghanistan and Iraq does nothing to help the situation either.
This is indeed another stain on the honour of the American flag,a symbol that used to stand for Liberty...but obviously not for some.

Isn't the main guy they're charging the one who claimed to have beheaded that US journalist, Daniel Pearl...?

I don't think he was banged up when he was bragging about that particular atrocity.

Couldn't happen to a nicer feller...

"Isn't the main guy they're charging the one who claimed to have beheaded that US journalist, Daniel Pearl...?"

You mean he claimed to have done it after they tourtured him.
You assume far too much...if all these people are guilty then try them in a recognised court of law.
They are listed as 'illegal combatants',so they are not military...but they are being tried by a military commission...weird to say the least.
This isn't justice,it's organised thuggery.
Peoples' lives are at stake, and they won't even be granted a legal; trial!

How do you know these are criminals?
I'd be very dubious about confessions exacted under torture...and even more dubious about a prison and legal system that goes out of its way to avoid offering a fair trial for murder cases.

Couldn't have put it better myself -

"Centre for Constitutional Rights in New York executive director Vincent Warren said: "These trials will be using evidence obtained by torture as a means to convict someone and execute them and that is absolutely abhorrent to what we believe in here in America."

Just Google "Saddam Donald Rumsfeld" and see how often Donny-boy used to pop over to Baghdad and have tea with Saddam (and ask him how well the gas was working?) WHEN he used to kow-tow to the Yankers !

I actually witnessed Saddam's crimes, remember I worked in Iraq.I also witnessed considerable american/British crimes theere too.
But how do I know these people are guilty? Because a government that practices torture, lying and Deceit tells me?
If you're not up to realising there is a murky element in all this then perhaps you should aquaint yourself more with current realities?
They may be guilty as hell,or just fell foul of some corrupt CIA agent...but the USA has lost all moral authority to try them...any result would not be seen as fair due to the extremely nasty prison conditions, and the admitted use of torture in gaining information.
Here in Britain it would be impossible to get a jury to convict, and I'm sure in mainland America it would be the same.
These guys are being tried outside of the US,but for crimes committed inside. And not being given a fair trial as recommended under the UN....now if they are as guilty as that...well why not offer them the same trial as anyone else?...answer is because they are hiding something, and don't want their illegal tricks shown up and challenged in a court of law!
I've seen the nasty stuff in the former Ukraine zone of Iraq...and it's not nice...my trust in these people is zero.

You would do well to find out a little more about what has been going on.

Start by reading the diaries of Craig Murray. He was the former British Ambassador to Uzbeckistan, but was sacked (on American orders?) for alerting the press to the human rights abuses (including boiling people alive !) in Uzbeckistan at exactly the same time as the Yankers were trying to "sell" Saddam's "crimes" to the world.

This was highly embarrassing for the Yankers as it was clear that they would put up with any kind of mass murderer, providing that he kow-towed to what the Yankers wanted.

The Uzbeck President allowed the Yanks to build a base inside the country (from which is was very convenient to bomb Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as spying on the Russians - just over the border).

Start with "Selling the Torture Agenda" - http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2...pushing_forward.html
