TOPIC: The Passion

The Passion 16 Years, 1 Month ago
Something very annoying about this BBC/HBO mini series.

James Nesbitt is a good actor but can't he do accents?

The guy playing Jesus looks like David Threlfall who was a wonderful Smike in Nicolas Nickleby but this is more his Shameless.

There's something really fake about the entire thing.

Still, I thought Mel Gibson's The Passion Of The Christ was fantastic so what do I know?

I actually fell asleep - so that shows how much it grabbed me !

Poor compared to The Lost Gospels on BBC2 the previous evening.

I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark (again), followed by Lewis which was actually rather good for a change.

Episode Two - equally irritating.
Was Pilate really from Northern Ireland?

Never mind - The story of the Disciples (5.45 on Sunday) looks very good (and maybe factual !)

Indeed.
"The Passion of Chris act one".

Cue Narrator/Singer.." I know this geezer, `ee lived daan windmill laine..."

Not for me this one, I`m really not sure of how how another way this story could be told, until that day, I feel it`s probably best left.

I watched part one again last night (managing to stay awake this time) - felt it was too hastily done with too much action in too short a space of time. If the viewer did not know the story they would have had difficulty working out what the plot was !

I've been watching, and I have to say I've found it quite interesting.

BTW - I've also had similar thoughts about the actor's accents... Jesus Barabas was a scouser?

What I've found interesting is the way the story is being told. Jesus and his disciples are portrayed as being only human, with not a miracle in sight.

I wonder how they'll show the resurrection. Will they show him rising from the dead. I'm not sure...
