Cherries... are they out of season? 17 Years, 11 Months ago
I didn't think fruit or veg had seasons anymore with all the air freight.
But many shops have LESS produce at the moment.

I think it`s allways wise to eat what is in season, depending on where you are. For example you can buy South american asparagus in the winter,in the UK, but it doesnt have the flavour of a locally fresh picked one. There is a PYO farm up the road, and it beats any supermarket produce.
In the shops, it is well worth looking for Morel mushrooms at the moment, as they are in season, don`t bother with the dried ones , you can get those all year.
Cherries should be in season, as the blossom has gone. Our strawberries have there first flowers, so they are on target for June. Imported strawberries just taste of watermelon to me.
I have allways found May a gap time in the garden, the polyanthus`s are fading and the pansies, starting to go leggy. I use sweet williams to fill the colour gap, before the geraniums and bizzy lizzies do their thing.
I was going to do a potato crop this year, but at 34p for 2 kilos, it doesnt seem worth it.
I once was on tour, and was told "This is supposed to a rock n` roll band and all you talk about is your garden!"

May sees the first cherries appearing from different parts of the world but they are at their most expensive at this time until we get into June and July, when domestic cherries become available and the price comes down.

I quite like these food, fruit, flowers and veg threads! 17 Years, 11 Months ago
I discovered, about 4 weeks ago, two gorgeous BEGONIAS in pots.
I was going to plant them outside but they are so pretty - one gold, one scarlet - that I kept them in the house.
I water them every day... they have lasted a month and are as fresh today as they ever were and look beautiful.
I'd never even heard of begonias before.

My cannabis plants grow all year round in my shed. Artificial seasons are the way forward.

Couldn't agree more Martin. The first English asparagus is now in the greengrocers

Ask Keith Richards, he was well busy pruning that tree!
Begonias should be safe to go out now. My geraniums have been out for a week.
I put 50 begonias in last year, but they don`t like my clay soil much.
The soil is so tough here, that the tulips come with broken stems.
A good time to scatter Nasturtium seeds too, very maintenance free, and normally flower until December, the leaves are edible and taste nice in salads, they have a flavour very much like capers.

Godiver. I'll keep quiet about your plants if I were you.

What was Keith Richards doing up a tree in his time of life.
