I thought the line "As a result of the officers' actions, the crime detection rate improved in Luton" was quite hysterical !!!

I'm not surprised that the detection rate improved - when people were coerced into admitting crimes that they could not possibly have committed - because they were in jail at the time !

When "the powers that be", get their teeth stuck into something, when they go to work the next day, they open a folder, and continue with the same job.
At the end of the eve, the folder shuts, and re-opens the next day. I recently met a guy who was remanded for a crime he "committed", in Cambridge, whilst he was in Dorchester with his girlfriend.
The underlying problem seems to be, "the powers that be", do not want to admit that they might have been a teensy weensy bit wrong, in many occasions.
Anyway, the comparison case in point, not police involved, is that we have a tax inspection here, next week. There is no point in it whatsoever, and in this business, there are many tax cheats, but certainly not in my office, do they come for an easy option and a cup of tea?
There are many culprits in the world, I often feel heads turn to the wrong faces.
