new announcement from the home secretary on dealing with anti social behaviour... 17 Years, 10 Months ago
It will be interesting to hear exactly what John Read (the home secretary by default) has to say to us on the subjects of anti social behaviour and how we deal with it . It would seem we are going to be told to stop moaning and deal with it ourselves.

Last month, a police officer I know had to arrest an 81 year old man. He had endured 3 months of torment by a group of kids, ranging from dogshit through the letterbox, garden and outbuildings vandalised, spitting on the windows of his bungalow and general abuse. The poor old guy decided to do something about it himself and waited for two of them to creep round the back of his house and got hold of one by the back of the shirt and called him a few things. The result...The little angel's parents got the police in and the old guy was arrested for assault.

My work colleague's 83 year old mother, found she couldn't park in the disabled bays at Tesco. One was occupied by a young bloke obviously waiting for someone so she got her husband to pull up next to the offending car, wound down her window and politely asked the occupant if he could please move as she couldn't walk very far. The response was "fuck off you old cunt ,I'll park where I fuckin well want to".

So Mr Read , how exactly do we deal with this ourselves?
What do you recommend? A swift stern sentence and a "be off with you" ?

Next time someone decides to throw stones at our windows, can we "deal with it ourselves"?
Next time someone breaks into the car or sprays paint over the garage can we "deal with it ourselves" ?
Next time we come across two teenagers tormenting the life out of a small animal can we "deal with it ourselves"

The sad fact is we are not allowed to deal with it ourselves. If I behaved badly as a teenager or younger, my mother would have "dealt with it herself" and there wouldn't have been much danger of it happening again.

before I left the UK I lived in one of the biggest shitholes for chavs "Mitcham" croydon.now there is a nice bit "commonside east" where I lived but the local chavs decide its great to come over on pushbikes to kick off car wing mirrors.in november I saw the little bastards kick a neighbours car.I legged it outside, jumped in my wifes KA and chased the buggers.I caught 2 of them and got em on the ground, now I'm not a small bloke but I'm not suprman either.their 3 mates sped off obviously to get tooled up.I phoned the cops and they told me they'll be there soon.ten minutes later I phone again,"don't worry we're coming"20 minutes later I see their friends returning so I had to let the little cunts go.I left the UK on Jan 13th 2006 and still the cops hadn't showed up.Its all over for decent people in UK and it'll take years if ever to turn chav culture around.
