We were absoluetly chuffed to get tickets to last night`s game, and it was a great idea of the club, to show the football on the big screen, in true stadium style before the match started.
Both games were enjoyed very much indeed.
However, this post is relevent to previous posts about hoolaganism.
At 10 am yesterday morning, I was informed that there would be no car parking on site, even for the disabled.
Being quite a green person, I was happy to use the park and ride scheme that had been provided.
The game finished about 10.30 pm, and guess what? At one am this morning, me and my partner are still standing in a crowd of about a thousand people(it started with about four thousand), waiting for a bus.
The George cross wearers were starting to get ugly, and it was becoming a very hostile atmostphere, with too few police trying to help, and attendents giving out water, even to young children.
All I can say is, no wonder it all kicks off, a lot of people were drunk and seriously needed to be put to bed.
I have never seen this first hand before, and I found it very scary. For anyone who has not seen a frustrated drunken Dad, being pulled away from causing trouble,by his son and wife, all I can say, is it is a very unpleasant sight, and THIS was only the cricket!
Great match though, great stadium, and a view, that far beats any TV coverage, which reminds me, the Sky outside broadcast team, had all there cameras and crew out of the arena, and drove straight past a tired jeering crowd, at around half past midnight.Had they filmed it on a cine camera, this would not have been a surprise.
I don`t want anyone to think I am generalising, because I am not, but I am illustrating an example of how transport must be sorted to ,and from ,big events.
