OK Wise Pundit King (I know nothing about football) on England's chances... 17 Years, 10 Months ago
I have always liked Beckham (but then I loved Zidane and thought Ronaldo could move!) but I think he's turned into a brilliant captain and is a crucial part of our potential success.
I'd like to see Lennon in for the whole show.
I think Wayne is improving game by game - at his best (he might get there for the finals) he's best in world.
Portugal will suffer from Mad Ref consequences (I love Christian R especially when he takes his shirt off!) but that may make them try even harder and I do think Big Phil is a very dangerous opponent.
Thank God we are not playing Mexico or Argentina!
But I have to say... we're still there, we're winning and we've been FAR from our best.
All I have to say now is...
GO GHANA!!!

ITK retires from football ! 17 Years, 10 Months ago
Having seen his beloved Holland go out (and they are usually in the last four) ITK thinks his predictions are a little flawed this year (is it a leap year or maybe its to do with the summer solstace?)

So - no further predictions on football !

agree with JK - final four will be out of Argentina, Spain, England, Italy, Brazil or Ghana and we all hope Ghana

Whichever wins... lucky quarter finalist playing against them!

They are both playing no worse than England, JK. And both have scored more goals from open play. This is the World Cup where anything can happen. One of these two might even be playing England in the final.

Actually don't agree Al; thought both Switzerland and Ukraine were dreadful... 17 Years, 10 Months ago
Italy must be delighted (not that they are playing that well).
I am becoming converted to the "Don't peak too soon" English philosophy.
They haven't been bad and they HAVE won.
When Lampard finds his form (at any moment?) and Rooney does too (ditto?) and Gerrard goes up a notch (ditto?)... if Sven brings Lennon in for longer... I think we look potentially pretty good.
Mind you that's an awful lot of "if"s!

Ronaldo can still move shock!! 17 Years, 10 Months ago
And moves quite nicely too though perhaps Ghana might have had ONE man in defence!

I hate to be ridiculously optimistic but it was the final I was referring to! 17 Years, 10 Months ago
It would be potentially a terrific game as England can only get there if they start fulfilling their potential and Argentina might just have peaked three games too soon.

ah right, apologies, i can't see us beating brazil (much as i'd love such a result!)

ronaldo, despite his apparent lack of fitness (if appearances are anything to go by), is still deadly. also, the brazillians are also yet to properly hit their groove, they've been at walking/exhibition pace for most of the tournament thus far!
