TOPIC: Everyone's Gone To The Moon

Everyone's Gone To The Moon 17 Years, 9 Months ago
JK may be a little sniffy about his debut single, but I still think it boasts one of the most haunting melodies/arrangements of the mid-sixties.

I'm going to make a few intelligent guesses about the background to the session that produced it:

1) it was recorded at Decca's fabled West Hampstead studios?

2)Johnny Sullivan did the orchestral arrangement (could have been Arthur Greenslade, I suppose, but doesn't sound quite like him)?

What I'd REALLY like to know, though, are the names of the session men who played guitar/bass/drums. I don't think Decca had a regular 'wrecking crew' of the kind common to American studios of the time. Or am I wrong?

It was the old Olympic studios Richard.
Ken Jones produced it and arranged it (but I did use Arthur, who sadly died recently, as my arranger on my first production, It's Good News Week).
Can't remember all the musos but the accoustic guitarist was a lad called Jimmy Page.

Nul points to me, then!

Have never heard of Ken Jones but then I'm not too well up on Decca staff producers.

Young Mr. Page man really was everywhere around that period, wasn't he? I often wonder if he genuinely did play on every British single between 1964-66!

Richard is kinda right in what he is asking there was a decca wrecking crew of some sort.Jimmy Page started his career in it.hence when the Who made their decca demos jimmy was the guitarist.how come JK you haven't written memoirs as those early days must have been fascinating.

Ken Jones was one of the greats - he produced the Zombies 17 Years, 9 Months ago
which was why I went to him; I loved the sound of their records.
He had many hits and is best known for writing and recording many huge TV themes.
