TOPIC: My Libyan friend
#73935
My Libyan friend 13 Years, 10 Months ago
I can only pass on what my Libyan friend told me. I can't proved anything either way. He, like me, is 15. He was born in Libya but has lived in the UK since he was 6. He is neither pro or anti Gaddafi but is very upset by what has happened in his country. He says that the western countries do not understand the Libyan people. Most Libyans will appear to support whoever is the strongest. The masses who came out to cheer Gaddafi were very genuine but then many lost heart when they saw the power of NATO. That is because they are a poor people with little will to fight against such odds. They don't think that the rebels will be much different to Gaddafi, but they feel that the situation is beyond their control.

He thinks that Gaddafi, for all his faults, held the country together. There has always been rebels, but they were few in number compared to the size of the country. Libya needs a strong leader, but the National Transitional Council are already too weak and too indecisive. Tripoli is run by countless gangs with their own leaders. With the new menace and confusion, normal Libyas are afraid to speak their real opinions.

He says that because of NATO, Libya is now no longer Libya.

Make of that what you will. Some will just dismiss it out of hand. Some might choose to give it more thought.

Your Libyan friend talks great sense.
The only thing I sincerely hope is that the new regime will encourage tourism; if so, I shall be going to Tripoli next year. I'm also longing to visit Algeria. Two huge gaps in my personal experience of North Africa, which I adore, and the lovely, delightful Arab people.

Pumpkinhead ... would be interested to know why your friend left Libya ?

Most fled to avoid the terror regime (or does your friend deny its existence too) ?

Try reading the statement again.Sure he'd have been anti Gadaffi if he sufferred as a result of a terror regime.
A terror regime is far more appropriate for say Iraq,or Afghan etc. Both of which have got much worse since we invaded them.
Some people never learn, even royal Plantpots!

What has this got to do with you ?

is your life sdo devoid of interest that you have to impeach others conversations ?

Apologies, JK, if this is inflammatory, I just couldn't resist it.

In all fairness it has to be pointed out that IA had entered this "conversation" before ITK "impeached" {and, by the way, that's entirely the wrong word} upon it. How many more times must ITK be allowed to pull this "what has this got to do with you?" stunt without official comment?

Yes - it is just you !

Firstly you interfere in a direct question to another poster (none of your business !), then

you say (quote) "Try reading the statement again.Sure he'd have been anti Gadaffi if he sufferred as a result of a terror regime".(end quote)

Its quite clear that YOU have not read the post as I'm sure every other reader can see !!!! LOL !

but then what else could we expect ?

This is a public discussion, posters are free to comment as they see fit.

As per usual you resort to stupidity and rudeness when you can't get your own way.
I have a lot to do with JK having also suffered a false allegation.LO has also got very close similarites with JK.
You on the other hand have no reason to be here, other than a deep felt desire to annoy most of the boarders.
Of course you're welcome to stay,as we're welcome to reply to your rudeness, and reply we will,as you well know we do.

Learn to behave, bite your lip when you feel the constant itch to be rude and nasty, then you will make friends, and enjoy your time here. But carry on in your current way and I am sure even JK will grow weary of you.

Nobody gives a damn about your crazy genetic mumblings,or really wants to hear rude put downs about people less fortunate than yourself. We treat you as we find you,and that is not a pleasant person at all

ITK;

While I have agreed with IA, I think it's worth saying this:
You are an opinionated and almost entirely offensive arse most of the time. As an educated and articulate man I'm able to deal with your rudeness, so it bothers me little. Having said that you are also interesting enough to provoke reaction from both myself and others. Give a little bit. You'll find life here much more rewarding. And, I'm sure, so will we.

Why dont you just talk to yourselves - I'm sure you'll get on very well !!

You are making yourselves look ridiculous to other readers with this petty jealousy and sniping.

If you don't like my posts (or they are over your heads !) dont reply - and I promise to ignore yours too !

You look quite ridiculous.

He left for reasons which had nothing to do with the Gaddafi regime. Most of his family are still in Libya, so far as I know.
