FULL Versions of UK Eurovision hopefuls 18 Years, 2 Months ago
Hi all - if you want to hear the full versions of the 6 entrants for Making your Mind Up UK Eurovision selection, you will find them on

devoted.to/eurovision

You can also listen to any of the winning songs that have already made it for Athens from around Europe!

Happy listening!!!

Just listened to all 6 in full.here's what I think anyway

Anthony Costa. Nice pop song but sounds like it was written in 1984. Representing Estonia or Iceland would finish 6th,Take away the 50 point neighbourly headstart those 2 countries would get and you'd work out where the UK will finish.

Goran Kay. He doesn't look like the sort of person that you'd expect to see singing this song. The production is good and it's a nice clubby sort of song with a great hook, but this would die a serious death at eurovision. His appearance, by that one photograph, looks somewhat camp and elfin, and making this sort of thing overcamp may not work visually.Only benefit might be his first name getting 60 points from the Balkans.

City Chix. Exactly like the sort of song a soap actress would sing.Sounds like they are trying to be Natalie Imbruglia. It doesn't offend me but again no chance at Eurovision

Kym Marsh. Just sounds like it's making up the numbers to me and hoping for some old fan votes. Not inspiring at all to my ears.

Daz Sampson. Have to be careful here as the performer is a friend. Big mistake here is singing it himself. If you fancied Dave Quinnan from The Bill, you'll be pleased, but this should be sung by a young black kid with a chip on his shoulder (and the odd f**k you) as the actual idea of the song, the lyrics and the tune are extremely commercial and an easy chart topper by the right artist, rather than a 30 year old Chav (Sorry Darren)

Four Story.Nothing original about this. It's in one ear and out of the other for me as I've heard hundreds of these already, so it just can't sound exciting. It doesn't offend me either but won't set the scoreboard alight.

I assume Anthony Costa will win. His name will get some votes from Greece and Cyprus too. I don't know how the legal situation will go as this song has been available by the original artist,as a paid download from an official website for that artist

As for the Irish song. A man with that vocal range and depth should have a more challenging song that this for sure.It sounds like a hymn and I'm not convinced this will get through the semi final on one listen, which saddens me, considering my fondness for this man.

Tend to agree with you there Mike. I too think that the Anthony Costa song is the likeliest winner. The Daz Sampson song has an appeal about it but the problem is that at ESC you can't have performers under 16 on stage, and can't sample a backing track!! Difficult to see how it could work under those rules.

Kym Marsh inoffensive but wouldn't do well at ESC. Costa our best hope but I don't think a winner.

Norway and Malta probably best for me so far. Malta light and fresh. As for Ireland, a vast improvement on anything they've offered in years.

Haven't heard anything else yet as I prefer to leave it until the week before. When I was younger I used to be well into it,even attended the 1995 contest when still in my teens. JK was parading around the Foyer at The Point,in his "One for you one for me" multi coloured wig. I was too shy to say hello back then I did overhear his opinion on one of the other songs though, which I can't repeat because a): it was hilarious but incredibly offensive and b): he'll slap me. I did get to meet Brian Kennedy though, who was singing the interval act.

Listening to the 6 songs for the Uk selection really does make me mourn for the days of 1995-2001. A Transatlantic number one hit, a Eurovision winner, even "S'manfer" before she was Lebanese! Not a hint of a song that had been released by someone else 2 years earlier (though the occasional, 18 month old tip sheet song crept in).It just seems so safe now and nothing even remotely off the cuff.No sign of Helene Horlyck or Susan Black, not that radio 2 listeners allowed them to get through to the final 4.

I wonder what horror show the BBC have planned for us this time, just another "get the campest, stereotypical men on TV to have their little bit of say" no doubt.
Jonathan Ross was hilarious with his comments last year. "Yeah they can sing but the song's a bit crap" being my favourite quote.

Fortunately UK don't have to qualify for the final. I really hope Ireland get through. They'll have a handicapped start behind FYROM, Croatia, Albania, Turkey, Estonia, Sweden, Cyprus, Ukraine and Russia of at least 30-50 points and in the case of the Balkans 60-80 points, regardless of the songs.
Do we know the running order for the semi yet? If Ireland are drawn early they may struggle to get through.I should say "we" rather than "they" since I'm Donegal born.

Difficult for me too... I don't know DAz but I know his creative partner and his manager so I have to root for him.
I'm not really keen on any of them, if I'm honest.
